getting the nursery ready is one of the nicest jobs before the birth. you don't need much, but the basics should be safe and practical. here is what to plan for, with links to what we stock.
1. the crib
the crib is the center of the nursery. choose a sturdy one that meets EN 716, the European safety standard for children's cribs, and check that the mattress fits snugly with no gaps at the edges.
2. mattress and bedding
a firm mattress that fits the crib exactly, a fitted sheet and a waterproof mattress protector are all you need. explore our baby bedding.
3. the changing station
a waterproof changing pad with raised sides and everything within reach make diaper changes easier. never leave your baby alone on the changing table. keep diapers, wipes and diaper cream close by.
changing pads: browse our changing pads. care: baby and kids diaper cream, plastic-free baby wipes.
4. nursery safety
anchor furniture to the wall, cover the sockets and install a smoke detector. put non-slip pads under rugs.
5. decor and finishing touches
a few decorative pieces make the room feel warm and welcoming: wall decor, a mobile hung out of your baby's reach and a soft rug. explore our nursery decor.
6. first care items
have a baby thermometer, baby nail scissors and a nasal aspirator ready from day one. explore our baby bath and care.
setting up the nursery doesn't have to be stressful. start with the basics, add the rest as you go, and enjoy getting ready to welcome your baby home.
